Biography & Intention

❖ Biography ❖

The wild world was an integral part of my childhood.
I remember leaving alone or with my brothers in this unexplored environment, which was unknown to me.

We went there to keep ourselves busy, to play, to discover...
In particular, I spent a large part of this immersion time tracking, observing, and putting myself on the same level as the animal life that surrounded me.

It was fascinating for me to be swallowed up, drawn in until I became invisible: a true symbiosis with the wildlife. Unsuspected by most, unaware of its beginnings: deer grazing on young fir shoots, falcons tending to their nests and chicks, the fox observing the valley from the top of a
hill..
Despite life passing by and personal problems piling up, nature remained an outlet. An environment that allowed me to set aside certain worries and traumas, making room for the present moment, for breath and thought. Beyond the fears and the beauty that only it can offer, nature was and will always remain a mental refuge transcending the limits of space and time, accompanying me through my memories and my travels.

My choice of studies, first in visual communication in Lyon and then in art school in Avignon, led me to visit new cities and to discover, with a break, a new world, that of the urban.

And nothing was ever more useful than this mental refuge that I had created, which at that time was one of the doors offering me the ease and escape I was seeking.

Allowing me, once again, to leave all my problems behind in difficult times.

There is one thing in particular that struck me in relation to this labyrinth of reminiscence.

It's because he kept fragments of our adventures and passages in the wild, and from that, I was able to reconstruct my memory following an amnesia.

I now come to explore art in the same way I did my expeditions: from memories to nature, balancing between the urban and the wild.

❖ Intention ❖

From my practice of bivouacking and symbiosis with nature maintained since childhood, followed by the mental refuge created from this, I carry through my life this labyrinth of reminiscence which has formed the heart of my healing.

It is in my artistic practice that I seek to correlate contrasting worlds. Moving from the imaginary to the real, from memory to the present, and from our relationship between the world of the wild (as Bruno Latour might call it) and the urban.

A work situated between gaps, between breaks in oppositions that leave gaps open to questioning. Questions focusing on our place in relation to what we have created and what surrounds us, our relationships with fauna and flora, and the causality of a coexistence that, for some, suggests the end of a civilization.

Also called into question is the plausibility of our beliefs, ideologies, and viewpoints in relation to our lived experiences and respective environments of personal growth. This also applies to the perspectives and judgments we make about these once they have been altered by a "parasitic" element. Like nature reclaiming a familiar place, bringing with it our deeply rooted memories. Or conversely, a
A car lost in the middle of an unknown clearing, waiting to be remembered.

Throughout my journey, I have focused on exploring the position that humans can adopt: that of animals, trying to put myself in their shoes in an attempt at empathy, listening, and resonance in order to better understand their perspectives. Like a tracker analyzing the lifestyles of species, even...
to take over their routines, and inevitably harmonize with its "prey" through their gaze.

As Baptiste Morizot might explain in his book "Sur la piste Animale" or Emmanuelle Coccia in "La vie des plantes," our perception of civilization depends on our sensitivity to nature, to fauna and flora, and on our immersion in our environment. I believe I can say that we
We have created what we believe in, and this nature, this world whose origin eludes us, will remind us of it.

LIBERTÉ
Salon à thème - Mai 2026 - Eygalières

The association "Eygalières Terre d'Artistes" has chosen the theme "Freedom" for its first exhibition of 2026, a logical continuation of the previous edition. Considering art as the primary vehicle for freedom, this theme invites artists to explore active lucidity, conscious choice, and the will to act within the limits of reality.

Young Talents Fair
First edition - September 2025 - Eygalières

A message from Dominique Bonneau - Vice President and Media Relations Officer of the association:

"I met Valentin, who saw the exhibition as a wonderful opportunity to showcase his world. He spoke to me about his inspirations and his vision of art: his projects primarily involve continuing to invest time in developing his ideas and, consequently, his creations. He is constantly exploring new avenues of expression. In particular, he seeks to create immersive spaces that are more akin to scenographic installations..."
Whatever his life holds, he will continue to paint; it is an integral part of his journey. He cannot imagine giving it up. He warmly thanks the ETdA team, believing that the selection of exhibiting artists brought a great diversity of styles, sensibilities, and subjects, revealing a genuine desire to showcase young creators, regardless of their level or background.
